Tell it Like it Is

“You know nothing, Jon Snow”
It’s like she was talking to me—
I could fill a teaspoon with the amount of stuff I really know
A really, big, warped teaspoon.
A trainee-spoonmaker teaspoon
A runcible teaspoon
A sieve.
Ask me about…
It amazes me is how things have changed—I remember lying around with my mom on a sunny morning
while she read to me, and taught me about the seven continents
Seven continents?!
Seven?!
Who’d’ve guessed it??
Who’d’ve guessed that there are lands you can’t see out of your window, beyond the vastness of the seas.
Who’d’ve guessed that there are fish in those seas that have teeth—fish so scary and agile, they could jump right out of the movie and into my bathwater
Ask me about...
I used to know everything—when I was in fifth grade, I learned the word “ameliorate”
So proud of myself, I tried to say it five times in every conversation
Now, my favorite word starts with the letter “F”
And I say it when I run headfirst into my door in the dark
Ask me about…
I don’t have any of the answers, remember. Not really.
