Call and Response- Isaiah Payton

Respond to how it represents social conscious
Impact on minority community
Movement towards justice

New Slaves- Kanye is talking about blacks and how they were in bad living conditions and white people would get better things. Also he talks about how blacks want the same thing and that line made a lot of sense. Black people are always fighting for the same thing because they have nothing good in their lives to have.

Jay z 99 problems- Jay z is talking about how the police always are looking to investigate black people. They just feel like there is always something a black person is doing wrong and they just like to start things with black people.

Black rage- She talks about how tough it is living in the ghetto and how you have to deal with all of these struggles. The impact on minority's is that they shouldn't have to deal with this.

Hell Talib Kweli- He talks about how if were all gods children why do we hate people of different religion. In the ghetto a lot of people are christian they go to church on sunday and I guess he is just rhyming about god.

The Last Poets True Blues- This song talks about how when blacks where slaves they would always sing the blues. That was the only thing that brought them happiness. Now people still are singing the blues but to black people Blues music has a big impact behind it when they here it. In the song I feel like every time he said "I sing the Blues" it means its an escape to happiness.

Mos Def Mathematics- He is talking about how in the ghetto you have to worry about your life because of all the drug deals and just how its tough for people in the ghetto. They have so much negative stuff in their lives and how for example going to jail, unemployment, mother doing drugs with a baby in her.

Nas I Can- Nas talks about children in the ghetto and how they grow up around people doing the wrong things. He just want children in the ghetto to realize they could be anything they want to be and they don't have to grow up and be like everyone else in the ghetto.
