Lauryn Hill's song "Ex-Factor" in her album "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" really connects with it's audience as the listener feels as if every word is coming deep down from within her heart. Ex-Factor is a song about a couple trapped in a struggling relationship constantly trying to make it work. The couple fights often and the man in the relationship consistently wants to break up, but their love for each other won't allow them to leave each other. The beat is slow and emotional which really lets the listener connect with her and the pain she is going through forced in her interloop of the on and off again relationship. Her line "You'd hurt yourself to make me stay" hit me as it seemed drastic yet understandable if their love was deep enough. This song remains one of the best on Lauryn's album.
